Brain-Computer Interface for Drone Control

There are many individuals who are not able to move their body. As a first step towards providing a system for controlling a mobility aid, such as a motorized wheelchair, we have developed brain-computer-interface software for four-directional control of a drone. Using OpenBCI’s Ultracortex Mark IV EEG headset, our software translates motor imagery (i.e. imagining moving certain body parts) into directional movement for a drone. We believe our software can serve as a platform for exploring how brain-computer interfaces can improve the lives of people suffering from various forms of illness.
